tygerkloof guest cottage

Tygerkloof Guest Cottage is part of the farmstead on our farm Tygerkloof, high in the Grootwinterhoek Mountains.

The cottage is ideal for a couple, and is self catering, with an equipped kitchen, gas stove and oven, electric fridge/freezer. There is a wood burning stove to warm the chilly nights, and a lap pool to cool off during the hot summer days. The nearest mountain pool is 3-5minutes away.

Because we are committed to sustainability we are totally off grid, using solar panels and gas. Therefore all high wattage equipment such as hairdryers, Nespresso machines , heaters, toasters and kettles, etc. cannot be used.

Free Wi-Fi is available.

There is easy access to our mountain with numerous pools, waterfalls, and beautiful walks.

Bird life is prolific and we have noted some 52 species. We have been fortunate enough to see the elusive Cape Leopard on two occasions, while other game indigenous to our mountainous wilderness area include Mountain Rhebok, klipspringer, grysbokkies, baboon, porcupine, caracal, African wild cat, and dassies.

We distill the multiple award winning GINSMITH gins on the farm, and are proud sponsors of the Cape Leopard Trust. We have a pair of their cameras on the farm.

We are able to offer a Gin Tasting OR a Gin Tasting and Tapas in the distillery with prior arrangement and booking.

The last km of access to the farm is a track, a SUV or bakkie is recommended, although some of the smallest sedans have been able to get to us with some careful driving. If necessary we can arrange for you to leave your car at a neighbouring farm and pick you up there.

We have 3 friendly, but territorial dogs, so unfortunately no dogs allowed.

Bookings are for a two night minimum stay at R750 pppn paid in advance.

To make enquiries, and to book, please phone Colleen 0839466050 or colleen@ginsmith.co.za
